Extra repayment questions
Can I make extra repayments on any loan?
Most variable loans allow extra repayments. Fixed loans often limit them or charge break costs. Check your loan terms.
When should I make a lump sum repayment?
Generally, the earlier the better. Interest is charged on the balance, so reducing it early saves the most interest over the life of the loan.
Is an offset account the same?
An offset reduces the balance interest is charged on, with a similar effect, while keeping the money accessible.
